Today I will share with you Plain Pulao Recipe. Pulao is another favorite dish of people in Bangladesh and South Asia, especially in the Muslim community.  Whenever a guest comes to any house in Bangladesh, pulao is a common recipe.  Hospitality is unthinkable without pulao.  Moreover, it is unimaginable that pulao will not be cooked in every ceremony. From Eid to marriage every event demands pulao. So, I think it is very important to share the pulao cooking recipe. It is very easy to cook. You just need special fragrance rice, cooking oil, and some very little quantity of spice. So let's get started.

Prepare time: 30 minutes

Cooking time: 30 minutes

Total time: 1 hour

Serving: 4 persons

Ingredients for pulao:

  • Chinigura rice 2 cups
  • Boiled water 3 cups
  • Liquid milk 1 cup
  • Chopped Onion 1/2 cup
  • Garlic paste half teaspoon
  • Ginger paste half teaspoon
  • Bay leaf 2 pcs
  • Cardamon 3 pcs
  • Clove3 pcs
  • Cinnamon stick 2 pcs
  • Cumin seed half teaspoon
  • Ghee 1 tablespoon
  • Cooking oil 1 cup
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1:

Rinse rice properly until it releases clean water. Then take the rice into a clean thin cotton cloth and drain all the water in it. Better hang it for half an hour.

Step 2:

Set a cooking pot on the stove. Pour a cup of cooking oil into the pot. Then add quarter (1/4) cup chopped onion and fry until it is crispy (beresta). When the onion will be crispy then take the onion off the pot and keep it aside for use at the final stage and keep the oil in the pot.

Step 3:

Into the oil pour rest of the onion then fry to brown color. After achieving the brown color then add one by one garlic paste, ginger paste, bay leaf, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, cumin seed, and at last clean and dry rice, and fry for 5 minutes.

Step 4:

After frying for 5 minutes then add boiled water and liquid milk, and add salt to taste. Then cover it and cook it for 25 minutes on medium-low heat.

Step 5:

After 25 minutes uncover and check, if ok then sprinkle fried onion on top of the pulao and sprinkle ghee on top of the polao then again cover it for the next 5 minutes. After 5 minutes it will be ready to eat.

Serving Ideas: Plain pulao is traditionally served with beef curry, chicken curry, mutton curry, etc. In Bangladesh, people like to have chana daal gravy as a side dish. It is a perfect rice dish for any occasion.
