Choto macher chorchori that means small fish curry is a Bengali popular curry recipe. It is simultaneously popular in Bangladesh, West Bengal, and Orissa. This curry is a balanced curry because it needs to cook with small fish and a lot of vegetables. You can use any kind of vegetables there is no restriction, any seasonal vegetables even if you want you can just use potato or you can cook this recipe with just onion. In every form, this choto macher chorchori will be mindblowing. In Bangladesh, if someone can not cook fish curry he will not be granted as a cook. There is a popular proverb about Bengali, "Mache Vate Bengali" which means if you want to be Bengali you have to like rice and fish. As a Bangaldeshi Bengali I also enjoy Choto macher chorchori very much. Here I am sharing an authentic Bangladeshi small fish recipe. Ingredients for Chorchori

  1. Small fish 250 grams
  2. Potato 3 pieces (medium size) cut into medium wedges
  3. Eggplant 2 pieces cut into medium wedges
  4. Onion 2 cups thin slices 
  5. Green chili 3-4 pieces
  6. Garlic paste 1 tablespoon
  7. Cumin seed paste 1 tablespoon
  8. Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  9. Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Mustard oil as per need


Method


Step 1

First, you have to clean the small fish. It is a very crucial part because it is very hard to clean small fish you need to touch every single fish and need to clean them if not fish will have stink. After cleaning the fish you have to wash it properly.




Step 2

Take a cooking pan, then add all the vegetables, onion, green chili, garlic paste, cumin seed paste, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, and mustard oil then mix it very well with your hand.




Step 3

Then add adequate water and add small fish.





Step 4

Set the cooking pan to the stove and set the hit medium-low, about 30 minutes.


After 30 munites your Choto Macher Chorchori will be ready.


Serving Idea:

You can serve it with white rice and daal as a side dish. Serve green chili and lemon in a traditional way.
