Step 4: Check with a knife or skewer if it is cooked and serve
Insert a knife or a metal skewer into the cake and if it comes out clean, the cake is ready. Remove from oven/cooker and let cool on a wire rack. This cooling process is done so that the cake does not break at times and comes out nice and clean. When sufficiently cool, invert the cake tin to remove the cake. You can also use butter paper to lift the cake, but you need to be a pro to do it quickly as it can break the cake. So, for a beautiful cake it is better to invert the tin and then take out the cake. Before decorating, slice the cake from the top but make sure you do this step when the cake is still warm and not completely cold. Now, take some whipping cream and line the cake evenly and scrape off the excess cream. Once done, you can use the cherries to decorate the cake or tutti-frutti, it totally depends on your preference. The cake is now ready.
